Our History

We stand behind our reputation and will continue to serve our community with the values instilled by our funeral directors.

In 1995 The Cheney's purchased what was then the Dewey Funeral Home. Out of respect for Mr. Dewey and the 40 years that he served the Phelps area they retained his name and and called it the Cheney-Dewey Funeral Home Inc. In 1999 the Cheney's decided it was time to look to the future and created what is now the Cheney Funeral Home. The entire facility has been remodeled and an addition was added in the rear of the building in 2002. We feel our reputation and facility have been built by the families who have placed their trust in us to guide them through this most difficult time in their life. We pride ourselves on serving each family with respect and paying attention to even the smallest details.

Thank you for visiting our website! It is our true passion for funeral service that helps us serve every family that calls upon us in their time of need. We serve to the best of our personal capabilities, without hesitation or reservation. We are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. It is the trust that we have earned, and the professional, but yet personal service given to every family, regardless of race, religious beliefs or community status, that is why families call on us. In today's society the boundaries of staying in your home town for funerals has changed. Most families today are concerned for the care given to the deceased and the service provided by the funeral home. That is why the Cheney Funeral Home is serving families from all areas. If the information on our website has helped you in anyway then our mission has been accomplished. Again, thank you for your interest in Cheney Funeral Home. If you would like to contact us please do not hesitate to call or e-mail at any time.

Respectfully, Peter Cheney
