Obituary of James Avery

CLIFTON SPRINGS– James C. Avery age 74, died on Wednesday (September 27, 2017) at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.

There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday (October 2, 2017), 11 a.m. at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Fellows officiating.

It is requested that memorial donations be made to the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church 1 E. Main Street Clifton Springs, New York 14432. or House of John 14 Spring Street Clifton Springs, NY 14432.

Jim was born on January 3, 1943 in Waterloo, N.Y. the son of the late James and Olive Kelsey Avery. He was a member of the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church. Jim was an Engineer and retired from Xerox. After retirement he enjoyed rehabilitating homes and reselling them. Jim had a quiet presence with a dry sense of humor. He was always helping  others never wanting any recognition for his work. He enjoyed physical exercise and loved walking around Junius Ponds.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maris Avery of Clifton Springs; daughter, Christine (Steve) King of Amherst; two sons James (Patti) Avery of Seneca Falls and Chad (Luke) Avery-Dougherty of Syracuse. Two grandchildren; sister Esther (larry) Brown of Texas; brother in law John Moldt of Fla.; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, James Avery; and his mother, Olive; and step father, Robert Davis. Sister Audrey Moldt.
