Obituary of Ronald Wheeler Sr.

NEWARK – Ronald R. Wheeler Sr., 78, died on Tuesday (October 31, 2017) at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (Nov.10)  at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. A memorial service will be held 3p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 11)  at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Wilson officiating.

It is suggested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Clifton Springs Hospital Foundation Cancer Fund, 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs, NY 14432.

Ron was born on September 8, 1939 in Italy, N.Y. the son of the late Willis and Harriet Hurlburt Wheeler. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and dancing. He also enjoyed camping with his wife for many years. Ron was truck driver for 43 years. He pulled double trailers and received many awards for safe driving. His largest was 2.5 million miles accident free. One of Ron’s finest attributes was his ability to just look down in the grass and immediately spot a 4 leaf clover.

He enjoyed a wonderful marriage to his loving wife, Sharyn Wheeler of Newark. He is also survived by his children Ronald R. Wheeler Jr. of Rochester, Andrew (Lori) Wheeler of Newark, Christine Warner of Gorham, Denise Brown of Newark; sisters Sandy (Don) Dotson of Manchester, Judy Young of Phelps; brothers Wayne Wheeler of Phelps, Terry (Penny) Wheeler of Fairport; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Charlotte Wheeler and brother Gordy Wheeler.
