Obituary of Carmen Orlando

Phelps, Carmen Orlando age 74, died on Thursday December 21, 2017 at Geneva General Hospital with his family by his side.

Friends may call on Wednesday December 27, from 4-7pm at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps.
A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday ( Dec. 28) 10:30am at St. Francis Catholic Church in Phelps with Father Peter VanLieshout officiating.  Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

It is requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Phelps Ambulance PO Box 81 Phelps, NY 14532 or Happy Tails 2976 County Road 48 Canandaigua NY 14424.

Carmen was born on October 6, 1943 in Rochester, NY the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Morello Orlando. He graduated from State University College at Geneseo with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. He retired from Geneva City School District where he worked for 34 years. He was a teacher and supervisor of the Special Education Department. He was a past member of the Geneva Teachers Association serving as Vice-President for 4 years and President for 4 years. He was also a past member of the New York State United Teachers Assoc. and New York Education Assoc. He was also a lifetime member of the National Education Assoc. Carmen served as Phelps Town Justice for 18 years, Town Supervisor for 8 years, Ontario County Board of Supervisors serving as Vice Chair for 2 years and Chairman for  2 years. Carmen was a past member of the Geneva Lions Club and Phelps Rotary Club. He was also a part-time Deputy Sheriff for Ontario County and the Phelps Police Dept. and an Honorary member of the Phelps Ambulance Corp. 

Carmen is survived by his son Christopher (Lisa) Orlando of Phelps.
Grandchildren Brittan (Jordan) Blaser of Phelps
Colby Orlando, Christy Orlando, Mason Jones and Sydney Jones all of Phelps.
2 Sisters in law Dianna Orlando of Bloomfield and Josephine Orlando of Geneseo
Carmen was predeceased by his wife Charlotte Macaluso Orlando in 1996 and son Craig Orlando in 1992.
