Emily Elizabeth (Betty) Straw

Born on October 11, 1927 in Caledonia, daughter Arnold E Palmer and Rachel Hale Palmer passed away on Thursday November 2, 2023 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

She leaves behind her brother Arnold Palmer Jr. of Rochester, daughter Susan C Campbell of Clifton Springs, Grandsons Christopher G Campbell of Waterloo, Andrew J Campbell of Clifton Springs, Great Granddaughters Chelsea (Joshua) DeBoover, Izabelle, Zoie, Eliza Campbell, Great Grandsons Tristan, Nathanial Campbell, Blake Campbell-Minns and Great Great-Grandaughter Rory Anne DeBoover along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In 1955 she moved her family to Orleans to care for a family member Hershal Baggerly and set up roots. Commonly known as Betty Straw, she throughout the years volunteered @ many organizations including but not limited to the Orleans Baptist Church, Orleans Cemetery, the Clifton Springs Library and the Phelps Library. One of her most significant accomplishments was documenting the history of Orleans after Lottie Wheat was unable to continue.

She is predeceased by her parents Arnold E and Rachel Hale Palmer, husband Leon H Straw, sister Eleanor Hotham and great grandchildren Christopher Shane Kauder and Alexis Marie Campbell.

There will be a private family ceremony @ the Orleans Cemetery to be determined at a later date. Donations in her memory please be directed to the Orleans Cemetery Association C/O Janet Wheeler 53 Pearl St, Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
