In Loving Memory of Ute Amberg
With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Ute Amberg, who departed this life peacefully at home on June 4, 2025, at the age of 88. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Herman, who preceded her in death in 2017.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial on Saturday (Sept 6) 3pm at the Seneca Castle United Methodist Church with Rev Susan Wissick officiating
Born on September 18, 1936, in Germany, Ute met Herman in the summer of 1958, and the connection was immediate. They married later that year and began their life together in Upstate New York. Their loving partnership spanned 58 wonderful years, ending only with Herman's passing. Together, they established the Grafted Grapevine Nursery, which was renamed Amberg Grapevines to honor Herman's legacy in 2020. The business continues under the care of their son Eric.
Ute's life was filled with love for family and nature. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always making time for her children, grandchildren, and the family farm. A passionate gardener and gifted cook, Ute also had a flair for arts and crafts, often creating cherished memories with her loved ones. She found great joy in hiking--whether it was walking the rows of the vineyard or exploring trails on her travels.
For over 60 years, Ute was a faithful member of the Seneca Castle United Methodist Church, where she was a long time Sunday school teacher and superintendent, her presence, kindness, and devotion left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Ralph (Peggy), children Shelley Anne, James (JoEllen), Toni (Jeffrey) and Chad; Anne (Lee) children Bekah and Ali; Eric (Sandra) children Jeremy, Joe (Caitlin), Heather, Neal (Amy) baby Henry; Mark (Lina) children Katie and Jacqueline.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Seneca Castle United Methodist Church: https://senecacastleumc.org/giving.
