Phelps, Arthur Alfred Ruthven, age 71, died on February 25, 2022 in Florida. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 9, 2022, 11am at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs. It is requested that memorial donations be made to Phelps American Legion Seeley B. Parish Post #457 1346 State Route 96 Phelps, NY 14532 Art was born on November 22, 1950 in Clifton Springs, NY. The son of the late Christopher and Peg Schroo Ruthven He retired from the New York Thruway Authority. Arthur was a proud veteran of the United States Army 98th Division. He valued his service and attained the rank of E7, Drill Sergeant. He Also was the Commander of the American Legion Post 457 of Phelps New York and Served as Phelps Town Councilman. He was about Family, Community and service. He loved gardening and preserving the harvest. One of his famous sayings was let's watch the garden grow as he sat in his favorite chair. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Karen Ruthven. Arthur is survived by his 3 brothers, Leon wife Karen Ruthven Christopher Ruthven and Joseph Ruthven wife Buffy. They have 6 Children Son, Steven Ruthven wife Patricia. Grandson Andrew Ruthven wife Ella, Great Grandchildren Lilah, Eliara, Knox, Magnola. Grandson Christopher Ruthven Fiancé Mary , Benjamin Ruthven and a stepdaughter Priscilla. Son, Edward Ruthven wife Paula Ruthven Grandchildren Kayla Morelock Great-grandchildren Gavin and Evan, Mariah Morath husband Dylan Great-grandchildren Kamrynn and Dominic. Taylor Giovannini Husband Matt Great-grandchild Charlie. Daughter Sarah Perri husband Timothy, Grandchildren Kennady , Cecileigh. Audrey Tyler Husband Scott Granddaughter Isabella. Daughter Elizabeth Bennett (Mike Bisbane) Grandchildren Jaida White Great Grandchildren Nevaiha and Haizen. Grandson Kain Bennett and Blaid Bennett. Son Adam Ruthven wife Rebecca, grandson Thomas.
