Obituary of Carol Jean Pries
LYONS - It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Pries announces her passing on Thursday (June 23, 2022) after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was surrounded by her loving family as she passed at Clifton Springs Hospital.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday (July 1) at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday (July 2) at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brian Fellows officiating.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, 1 East Main Street Clifton Springs, NY 14432, Or the Lipson Cancer Center, 2 Coulter Road Suite 2615, Clifton Springs NY 14432.
Carol was born on December 29, 1947 in Clifton Springs, N.Y., the daughter of the late Chester and Hazel Hood.
Her greatest joys in life were making memories. She attended almost every game, swim meet, orchestra concert, or special school and Boy Scout event that involved her grandchildren. Carol enjoyed being outside. She loved new adventures while camping and she was a passionate gardener. Some of her other hobbies included golfing, kayaking and baking. Carol’s unpretentious nature led her to enjoy life in unique and fulfilling ways. She played cards, shared conversations on the front porch with family and beloved friends, and volunteered at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church bizarre.
Carol graduated from Waterloo High School in 1965. She retired from the Quality Control Department at G.W. Lisk in 2010 after 29 years of service.
Carol is survived by her loving lifetime partner, Terry Sunderlin of Palmyra; children, Lorie Farnsworth of Brockport and Andrea (Scott) DeHollander of Victor; grandchildren, Robert Bennett IV of Seneca Falls, Elliott and Erin DeHollander of Victor; and her siblings, Janice DeBaere of Phelps, James Hood of Florida., and Betty Borrego of Texas.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Peggy Clingerman, Carl David, Ronald and Donald Hood.
