Obituary of Roy E. Norsen


Newark, Roy E. Norsen (Arnold) age 72, died on Monday May 7, 2017 at Newark Wayne Hospital.


Friends may call on Monday (May 14) from 5-7pm at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday (May 15) at 10am in Glenwood Cemetery with Military Honors.


It is requested that memorial donations be made to the Newark-Arcadia VFW 225 E. Union Street Newark NY 14513.


Mr. Norsen was born on October 7, 1945. He attended Phelps Central School until 1962. He worked a variety of jobs until joining the US Army  from 1967-1969. He served with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam from January 1967- June 1968. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the 1968 T.E.T offensive. He also received the Army Accommodation Medal for Meritorious service and many other awards and citations. He most recently received the Conspicuous Service Award by NYS in the early 1990’s. After the service he worked at Bern Furniture as a delivery driver until sickness rendered him disabled.

Mr. Norsen was a lifetime member of the Newark-Arcadia V.F.W. Post 2883


He is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Dan) True of Newark

Grandchildren Samantha Johnson and Jaxson True of Newark

Step-son Jud Briggs of Newark

Sister Sandra Melendez of Geneva
