Obituary of James Sadler
PHELPS– James E. Sadler, age 80, died peacefully at Unity Hospital with his family by his side.
Friends may call on Friday (Sept. 28) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. Newark Fire Dept. will pay respects at 6:30 p.m. followed by an Elks Service at 6:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 29) at the funeral home with Rev. Arian Tierson officiating.
It is requested that donations in memory of Jim be made to the Newark Elks Lodge 223 South Main Street Newark, NY 14513, or the Newark Fire Department 150 E. Newark Street Newark, NY 14513.
Jim was born on July 28, 1938 in Shortsville, N.Y. the son of the late Charles and Edith Kinsey Sadler. Jim was a member of St. Francis Church in Phelps. He was a member of the Newark Elks Lodge for over 50 years where served as Exhalted Ruler, Past District Deputy and State Vice-President. Jim was also a member of the Newark Fire Department for over 50 years and was a Past Chief. He was the current Vice-president of the Arcadia Hose Co. He retired from the Newark Highway Department where he was Highway Manager.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gail Sadler of Phelps; children Teresa (Louis) Chingalini of Geneva, Dawn (Lee G.) Walters of Phelps, Michael (Kellie) Sadler of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers Herbert and Alvin Sadler.
