Obituary of Marjorie Morris

CLIFTON SPRINGS– Marjorie B. Morris, age 95, died peacefully on Saturday (October 13, 2018) at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.

Friends may attend a celebration of Marj’s life on Monday (November 5, 2018) from 3 to 5 p.m. at Warfields Restaurant 7 W. Main Street Clifton Springs, NY 14432.

It is requested that memorial donations be made to the Clifton Springs Library, 4 Railroad Avenue Clifton Springs, NY 14432 or Literacy Volunteers of Ontario-Yates 208 South Main Street Canandaigua, NY 14424.

Marj was born on December 1, 1922 in Shanghai, China the daughter of the late Fred and Ruby Dodd Bornholz. She was a WWII veteran of the Navy serving in the WAVES. She was the inspiration behind the preservation of Downtown Clifton Springs. Marj was a supporter of the Clifton Springs and Ontario County Historical Societies. She was also the founder of Main Street Arts in Clifton Springs. Her passion was the Clifton Springs Library and supporting the Literacy Volunteers of Ontario-Yates Counties. She was a former board member of G.W. Lisk. Marj was very involved with the Clifton Springs Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and supported the Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund. She established the Marjorie B. Morris Endowed Professorship for Cardiac Surgery at the University of Rochester.

She is survived by her children Anne (Leopoldo) Morris Mancilla of Clifton Springs, Dr. Elaine Morris (Clive Gamble) of Southhampton England, Robert A. (Jody) Morris of Clifton Springs; grandchildren Brian Andrew Morris of Canandaigua, Andrew Leopoldo Mancilla Esq. of Brooklyn, Anthony Fernando Mancilla of Los Angeles Calif., many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Andrew “Drew” Morris.

Funeral arrangements have been made with the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps.
