Anita Heffron

Obituary of Anita L. Heffron

Anita (Ann) Louise Heffron passed away December 3, 2020, following a life filled with joy and memories spanning 81 years. Born on June 13, 1939 to Patricia and William Butler, Ann graduated from Phelps HS Class of 1957, and worked at the Phelps Phone Company as an operator. She then went on to become the first graduate of the Newark Hospital Radiology Program, and worked as an X-Ray Technician at Newark Radiology and then for a private practice in Palmyra before becoming the medical secretary for Dr. David Bott at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic until she retired. Ann was an active member of the community, serving as a Den Leader for Cub Scouts and heading up committees to create a water district in the Orleans community and to preserve the Orleans railroad water tower. She was a force to be reckoned with that greeted everyone with a warm smile and caring eyes, and to know her was to love her. Married twice, she brought four children into the world, and they and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Ann enjoyed family vacations and camping trips, and she especially loved large family gatherings. Whether for a holiday or simply getting together, being able to have her loved ones together in her home was sacred to her. She took joy in friendships, with many dating back to her days in school or early jobs and lasting until the very end. No visitor was ever turned away or allowed to leave without a cup of coffee and a cookie or some other treat. Ann is predeceased by her parents, brother Lee (Mary Jane) Butler of Auburn, and grandson Brandon Jeffery. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James J. Heffron, daughter Dawn (Rob) Taylor, son Ken (Tammy) Jeffery, son James E. (Shannon) Heffron , son Brian (Tracy) Heffron, grandchildren Michael Harris, Delburt Cody, Andrew Jeffery, Courtney Jeffery, Meghan Heffron, Karen Heffron, Ryan Heffron, William (Billy) Heffron, Konnor Jeffery, and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be scheduled at a later date to allow for a safe and appropriate celebration of her life and the love she leaves behind. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association through her tribute page http://act.alz.org/goto/ann_heffron
